Publish a Book vs Create a Course

Should you publish a book, or produce an online course?

In a word, the answer is yes.

When it comes to non-fiction, business-oriented, how-to information, the content contained in 120-page book and a two-hour course are just about the same. So why not produce both?

You can sell your paperback book for about $15 and your online course for $200 – $1,000 or more.

Some people prefer to read, some prefer to listen, and some like to watch. Some members of your tribe will buy and consume every format you share with them. Every person has a different budget and level of commitment. Give the people what they want.

Books are organized into chapters and paragraphs. Courses are structured as sections and lessons. You can literally take the content of your course and convert it into a book, or vice versa.

This topic came up in a phone conversation I had with an aspiring author the other day. He told me that he was just about finished creating his content, after which he would decide whether to publish it as a course or a book. “What do you recommend?” he asked. You and he both know my answer.

The more content you produce, the more formats you publish and distribute it in, the more people will be able to find you, get to know you, like and trust you.

Give me a call if I can help.
